Exciting times!

I have not posted in too long! So many exciting things are happening right now and I can't keep up!

The main thing that has kept me away is looking for a house...we are buying our first house! I am excited to share that we put an offer on a house we love and it was accepted, we are currently under contract and (fingers crossed) we will close on June 18! YAY!

Scrapbook news is also exciting, I was featured as a guest designer this month! Stick it Down is so wonderful for hosting me, thank you so much! Here was the awesome sketch:

Here is my finished layout:

I am honored to have been chosen as a winner and to be a guest designer!

I also completed another layout for Sketches In Thyme using two of their sketches
to make a double layout.

This was such a fun day! I enjoyed remembering this train ride as I made these pages. B was so excited to see Thomas and meet Sir Topham Hat! He got his own engineer hat and a Thomas toothbrush at the gift shop :) C was too little to enjoy it, but she did enjoy all of the new sights and sounds!

The first page is based on sketch #150

The second page is based on sketch #148

I added our tickets to the page!

I love using buttons as accents and embellishments!

This post is full of enough excitement, I will share more exciting news next time!
Thanks for checking out my blog, hope y'all have a scrap'n good time!

Baby Mine

I am so excited about my newest layout!
I did a few new things that really turned out well, and I have Sketchabilities and Sketches in Thyme to thank for the inspiration!

These two sketches are so awesome, I loved using them for my inspiration for a double layout.

Here is my layout

I took inspiration from the sketches, and also from the lullaby "Baby Mine" ( I especially love the Alison Krauss version, but Dumbo is a classic!).

The first page is based on the Sketchabilities challenge. I absolutely love this sketch...really I love all of the Karan Gerber sketches, my first challenge was a Scrap Our Stash challenge with a sketch from Karan Gerber and it was my initial inspiration for starting a blog and completing challenges!

The Sketches in Thyme sketch challenge was also awesome. I loved this sketch so much, I like the flow and movement of the sketch and I really wanted to incorporate the 3 dimensional quality it portrayed.

As always...some close ups :)

I used ribbon and flowers to create a 3 dimensional element, I was really happy with the outcome.
The flowers were my favorite thing to make for this page. I had such a blast making them for the first time. Usually I am content to create flat stacked flowers, but for this sketch I really wanted something more substantial.

I don't normally make such long titles for my pages but I decided to forgo journaling in order to use this title, which is one of my favorite lines from the song.

I got these adorable tiny clips at target a few days ago and knew I wanted to incorporate them into my page! I love the dollar section at target, I find so many fun things for my layouts there!

I am also really happy with how easy the sew easy tool makes sewing cool designs on my pages.

Have you ever made a layout based on a favorite song? I would love to see them! Have a scrap'n good time!

C is for Christmas...in April?

So I have been pretty busy lately and I prefer to scrap in chronological order (with the occasional exception) so my most recent layout is Christmas 2013!

Despite being busy, I decided to participate in a great sketch challenge from Sketches in Thyme! They have new sketches each week, how awesome is that? The first two weeks flew by so I decided to use both of those sketches on a double page layout...

April Week 1 Challenge
April Week 2 Challenge

So here is my take on the first sketch ^^^^

and this is the second....

It was so much fun making this layout! My whole family had a great time remembering what a fun trip to Sea World this was. Taking the picture in the giant snow globe was so much fun, and about as close as we get to snow in Texas!

I wish the pictures were better, I prefer to take pics in natural light, but all we have had lately are dark and gloomy days!

Here are a few close ups :)

I used the sew easy tool along with a pretty sparkely green thread for the extra detail. My son especially loves it when I make Sesame Street characters with the Cricut. He giggled for 5 minutes straight when I told him the title of the page was "C is for Christmas!" Then he asked me for a cookie :)

Hope y'all enjoyed my layout, have a scrap'n good time...and play along with Sketches in Thyme!
